Q: My pet will not take a prescribed medication, such as a pill or capsule, what could I do?
A: We understand that many animals, especially felines, are extremely hard to give medication to. Marlboro Animal Hospital offers many compounding solutions for these cases. Medication can be compounded specifically for your animal in many different forms such as liquid, soft chews, power sprinkles and Trandermal gel. These can all also be flavored to your animal’s favorite taste, such as Tuna, Chicken, Beef, Liver, Ocean Fish and many more.

Q: Why do I need a written prescription for an online pharmacy?
A: Federal Law requires a valid prescription from a licensed doctor for all prescription medications, no matter where they are obtained. We can only write a prescription if we have seen your animal within the past year.

Q: Does Marlboro Animal Hospital have a discount for multiple pets?
A: We do not offer discounts, as we try to keep our prices as low as possible for all of our clients.

Q: Does Marlboro Animal Hospital accept spay/neuter certificates?
A: We do not participate in the spay/neuter certificate program. We strive to give all of our patients the same high level of medical care, without exception. This includes mandatory pre surgical blood screens for all patients going under anesthesia and the use of comprehensive pain medication post surgery.

Q: Can I bring my bird, rodent or other exotic pet?
A: Our primary focus is canines and felines.

Q: Do you crop ears/tails?
A: No, we do not offer any tail or ear cropping for any animals.

Q: I’m traveling by plane, what do I need to do for my animal to travel?
A: Every country has different specific travel regulations and requirements, some of these include having a series of vaccinations over the course of several months, so plenty of planning is imperative. Please give us a call at our office to set up a time where you can discuss your particular travel itinerary, and create a personalized travel plan to ensure a smooth trip with your animal.

Q: When should I start Heartworm pills?
A: The doctors at Marlboro Animal Hospital recommend that the dogs start Heartworm preventative as puppies and stay on heartworm pills year round for life.

Q: Why do I need an appointment to see a doctor and not just walk in?
A: We have many patients who need individual medical attention, and we know many people have busy schedules. To keep our clients wait time to a minimum we schedule patient’s visits by appointment only.

Q: Does Marlboro Animal Hospital offer grooming services?
A: We do limited grooming. We will only groom felines that cannot be handled by a professional groomer and need to be sedated to be groomed.

Q: Does Marlboro Animal Hospital board animals?
A: No, we do not offer any boarding services.

Q: What vaccines should my pet get?
A: This subject has enjoyed much discussion in recent years. There is no question that vaccines have improved our pets' quality of life by making diseases like Distemper a rarity rather than a common and debilitating condition. Preventing Feline Leukemia, Parvovirus enteritis, and Rabies was so worthwhile that yearly booster protocols became commonplace because…they worked! Veterinarians and vaccine manufacturers are now questioning whether or not immunity may last longer than what is listed on the label. Manufacturers are making vaccines safer and more effective, and we realize that not all dogs and cats are at equal risk for all diseases. Both the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) have dedicated panels of experts to address these questions. Guidelines have been established based on their findings. At Marlboro Animal Hospital, our Doctors have modified our protocols based on these updated guidelines. Vaccinations are divided into "Core" (required) and "Non-core" (optional). In addition, our veterinary staff will ask questions about your pet's lifestyle to help determine which vaccines may be appropriate. Please feel free to ask questions.
